FAQ

Most frequent questions and answers

Most people are nervous to see a new counselor. It can be especially difficult if this is your first time seeking therapy or if you had been disappointed by previous experiences. So it may be helpful to know what to expect:

We will initially talk on the phone if you call me or if you scheduled online. I will answer any questions you may have about me or my work, and also ask you a few questions to assess if we may be a good fit. If be both agree we will set up an initial meeting.
I am very aware that the first session can be stressful and awkward, but I want you to  know that I will make it as relaxing and pleasant as possible. You can expect a casual conversation with me asking you questions and listening intently to your concerns. By the end of the first session I will share with you my observations and suggestions and we will look together at an anticipated plan and timetable.

Typically clients come to see me once a week, but even this is something we can talk about. I strongly believe that psychotherapy is a collaborative process, so we will work together from the beginning, to insure that you benefit from the experience.

Please call Heleen at 503-914-2749 to schedule an appointment. You can also fill out the contact form here on the website and we will email you back ASAP.

No, unfortunately we do not take insurance at this time. We can however provide you with a super bill, which is a detailed bill that you can present to your insurance. Not all insurance companies accept super bills, but some do, so please make sure to contact your insurance about this. The reimbursable amount is set by the insurance company and may not cover the full counseling fee. Clients need to check with their insurance ahead of time.
Clients are responsible to pay the bill in full at the time of the appointment and then use the online invoice/receipt to claim the money (or a percentage of it) back from their insurance.

We have a limited amount of scholarships available. Please contact us and we will give you access to the necessary forms to find out if you qualify for a lower rate.
